On the first day of the tournament, there was a full programme not only on the free Baloise Match Courts, where the qualifying rounds took place, but also on the forecourt of the Kurhaus in Bad Homburg. Visitors were able to get autographs from Anna Blinkova and Mayor Alexander Hetjes had a duel with Tatjana Maria on the mini court. The highlight of the evening: the Pfund concert in the Konzertmuschel!
Before the gates opened, Elina Svitolina handed out Daily Lawn News to the fans to sweeten the waiting time. The first main draw matches took place on the sold-out Spielbank Bad Homburg Centre Court and the Baloise Match Courts 1 & 2 were also well attended. Top seed Maria Sakkari took time to sign autographs in the afternoon and surprised everyone by wearing a German football jersey.
On Kids’ Day, there was plenty on offer for our youngest fans. On the mini court they could compete with Emma Navarro and have their picture taken. At the FFH kid’s press conference, Tatjana Maria answered questions from her young fans and commented on Jule Niemeier’s upset over world number eight Maria Sakkari. In the evening, the players gathered at the Steigenberger Hotel for this year’s Players’ Party.
Today’s winners were Viktoriya Tomova, Caroline Wozniacki, Peyton Stearns, Donna Vekic, Veronika Kudermetova and Paula Badosa.The Baloise Park Village also has a full programme, with daily autograph sessions in addition to the culinary offerings. On day 4, the fans could meet Beatriz Haddad Maia and Diana Shnaider.
By defeating Paula Badosa, Diana Shnaider has reached the semi-finals of a WTA 500 tournament for the first time in her career. The other semi-finalists are Anna Blinkova, Donna Vekic and Viktoriya Tomova. All spectators without grandstand tickets were able to watch the matches on the big screen in the Baloise Park Village. The day was rounded off by THE GROOVETOPS at the Konzertmuschel.
On the last day of the tournament, two exciting final matches went into extra time. The doubles went into a tie-break and a third set was also played in singles. The lucky doubles winners were Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez. In singles, Diana Shnaider secured her first WTA500 title!
