BORIS BECKER AND ANDREA PETKOVIC TO TALK LIVE ON THE SPIELBANK BAD HOMBURG CENTRE COURT
A double dose of quick wit is guaranteed when the Bad Homburg Open powered by Solarwattwelcomes one of the greatest grass court players of all time to its small anniversary celebration. Shortly prior to the 40th anniversary of his first Wimbledon victory in 1985, Boris Becker will exchange volleys with Andrea Petkovic on the Spielbank Bad Homburg Centre Court on 23 June (18:00 o’clock).
At least verbally, because the two of them are the hosts of the successful ‘Becker Petkovic’ podcast, which inspires, sparks debate and presents tennis from a new perspective.
Becker: ‘Right in the middle of the grass – it’s going to be a very special experience!’
In any case, Boris Becker’s thrill of anticipation could not be any greater: ‘I am really looking forward to the live podcast in Bad Homburg. To be sitting on Centre Court with Andrea, right in the middle of the grass, is going to be a very special experience!’
Andrea Petkovic is equally thrilled about the event in the inspiring atmosphere: ‘Boris and I always receive great feedback and ideas for our future episodes. Therefore, I am especially excited to share our hobby with even more people – and this time in person and up-close.’
Advantage to the tennis fans – advantage Bad Homburg spectators who will be able to enjoy a very special live event at the fifth edition of the WTA 500 tournament.
Becker and ‘Petko’, a dream team – razor-sharp and passionate
In just a few weeks, the boutique tournament in general and the historic Kurpark in particular will offer the perfect stage for a new episode of the well-founded, passionate and renowned expert talk.
On one side of the umpire chair: tennis legend, Boris Becker, six-time Grand Slam winner (including three Wimbledon titles) and former number one in the world – on the other side of the net: former top ten player and author, Andrea Petkovic, a fan favourite, as multifaceted as she is eloquent. The well-rehearsed doubles team has already proven in the first episodes of the premium tennis podcast that they don’t mince words, can provide razor-sharp analyses and can also discuss matters passionately. The topics: always diverse – the atmosphere: always excellent!
‘Living room‘ vibes on Centre Court? Becker would be pleased!
Boris Becker in particular is likely to feel completely at ease on the Spielbank Bad Homburg Centre Court. Grass is THE surface for the Leimen native, who, at 17 years of age, won Wimbledon on 07 July 1985 as the youngest player ever and together with Steffi Graf triggered a tennis boom in this country. And: The grass seeds used for the courts in Bad Homburg are identical to those used at Wimbledon, where, as is well known, the sacred grass grows. Boris Becker will surely be delighted. Perhaps the 57-year old will even get that familiar living room feeling on 23 June. As a reminder: He did call Centre Court at London’s Church Road ‘his living room.’
By contrast, Andrea Petkovic, who ended her professional career in 2023, always felt a little wary about the fastest of all surfaces during her playing days. ‘It was kind of a love-hate relationship,’ the player from Darmstadt once said. On the podcast terrain, however, hardly anyone can beat her. All in all, the perfect conditions for an exciting conversation with the congenial dream team ‘Petko’/Becker at this year’s BadHomburg Open powered by Solarwatt.
